Music Director Linda Wareham’s passion for continuing education has ensured the success of Northern Beaches Chorus. When asked about this passion, her reasons are clear.
“There’s nothing like music to relieve the soul and bring people together, but when you get music and words together it can be a very powerful thing indeed,” she said. “I love playing my part in the creation of special moments for our singers every week at rehearsal and in our performances.”
Linda became Music Director in 2004 with 28 singers and under her direction, NBC has increased in size, quality and reputation. NBC won the 3rd place medals at the 2012 and 2015 Region 34 Sweet Adelines competition and the 4th place medals in 2014 and 2016. They won the Most Improved Chorus Award in 2010 and 2008 and have consistently been a finalist in the Sydney Eisteddfod.
She has developed coaching and education programs for Choruses and Music Leaders, making her own continued development a priority through attending many local and international Sweet Adelines education opportunities and networking with the world’s finest barbershop educators.
With Linda’s support, three NBC members have achieved their Directors Certification and now play a key role in the education program. In addition to singing Tenor with current 5th place regional medallists Sista! Quartet, she is also a sought-after Quartet coach, has developed and run several Quartet education days and sponsors the annual Regional Novice Quartet award.
Linda joined Sweet Adelines 25 years ago and has been a dedicated member of local and regional management teams for many years. After a 4 year break from regional service, she was again appointed the Regional Education Coordinator for the 2014-2016 term and now focuses on her Regional Education Faculty role and is Regional Coordinator of the Director Certification Program. She has particularly enjoyed assisting with the chartering of new Choruses and implementing innovative education programs for the benefit of the whole Region.
In 2014, the Chorus celebrated Linda’s 10 year anniversary as its Music Director.
She also directs Coastal a Cappella from the beautiful Central Coast area of New South Wales. At the 2010 Sweet Adelines International contest in Seattle, Linda was presented with the prestigious Ann Gooch award for her contribution to barbershop harmony in Australia.
Our Assistant Directors have contributed to the Chorus education program for many years as Section Leaders. They work with members on vocal production, performance techniques and characterisation to support the Chorus goals of performance excellence and to provide high quality entertainment for our community.
Kylie has a musical background which included singing with the Australian Girls Choir and the Sydney University City of Sydney Singers. She has a BSc MTeach (Hons) and a passion for barbershop singing.
A former Tenor Section Leader, Kylie has been Assistant Director of NBC for several years, directing our performances of When You Wish Upon A Star and Go The Distance at three Region 34 Showcase of Champions Concerts as well as some of our contest and finals performances at Sydney Eisteddfod. She gained her Director’s certification in 2013. Kylie sings Tenor with Treble Makers Quartet. Kylie was voted NBC’s Sweet Adeline of the Year in 2015.

She successfully completed the Sweet Adelines Director’s certification program (DCP) in 2013. Trish believes that music brightens the spirit and heals the soul and she’s frequently asked not to sing in shopping centres when accompanied by her children! She trained in classical piano and music theory, and played guitar and sang with friends or wherever anyone would listen.
Trish is one of the Vocal Craft team, receiving her Sweet Adelines DCP (Director’s certification program) in 2013 and is currently enrolled in the arrangers program (SCRAP). The Chorus sings two of Trish’s arrangements in their Christmas carolling program. In 2012, Trish was awarded the Sweet Adelines Australia Regional Education Grant and travelled to Orange County, California to attend the A Cappella Harmony Academy to further her music education. Trish is also the Music Director of Aurora Australis Chorus and is a dual member with Coastal a Cappella Chorus.
Sharon is an experienced front row performer and sings Baritone with Sista! Quartet. With a background in musical theatre from her high school days, she brings personality and stage presence to her role as NBC’s Visual Leader. She attended the Sweet Adelines International Convention in Honolulu, Hawaii in 2013 to see first-hand the creative and dynamic visual plans that support the vocal production of 700+ scoring choruses.
